Your induction training
Your journey starts with induction training. This will give you great insight into who we are as a company, our processes and ways of working, as well as being an ideal opportunity for you to get to know your new colleagues. The course takes place in Whitechapel, with sessions led by our industry experts and condition specialists. You’ll learn relevant care skills, innovative techniques and the knowledge to help our clients continue to live well at home.
The course covers a wide range of topics including:
- Client conditions and ageing
- Safeguarding and mental capacity
- A qualified first aid course
- Moving and handling
- Medications management
- Infection control
- Personal care and oral hygiene
You’ll also learn about being part of the Cherished Home Care team:

- IT & e-learning – understanding our systems including our ‘Carer Community’ platform
- Well-being – how we look after ourselves and others at work
Ongoing training opportunities
We strongly encourage all our team to think about their career goals and take an active part in fulfilling them. Training, supervision and coaching are available to all our carers and you’ll be given the chance to reach your potential with opportunities for professional development and career progression. Our online learning platform enables you to document your learning and compile your own professional development record.
To prepare for your new role at Cherished Home Care you will receive:
- Comprehensive induction training
- Ongoing online training – including obtaining the Care Certificate
- Funded training opportunities – qualifications at level 2 and 3
- Regular programme of informative webinars and advance training sessions (available both in the classroom and remotely)
- Annual refresher training, and renewal of a certified first aid course every three years

Training FAQs
Documents required differ from person to person, however you should make sure you bring the following:
- Passport or birth certificate and visa (if applicable)
- Driving Licence (if applicable)
- Two proofs of current address one dated within the last three months
- Criminal check from any country you have lived in for the last five years
- Any care-related training certificates or proof of qualifications
Each day will begin at 8.45am and we should normally be finished by 6pm each day. There will be breaks with refreshments at regular intervals and a lunch allowance of £5 per day is provided.
Whilst our carers are not asked to wear a uniform, we have high expectations regarding presentation. As you will represent the company when on shift, please attend training in smart work attire; avoiding jeans, or anything ripped or torn (even if designer).
For the first aid and moving and handling training you will need flat, enclosed footwear and it is advisable to avoid wearing skirts or dresses on these days due to the practical elements of the training.
This will depend on if all of your pre-employment checks have been completed. Before you can be cleared for work we will need the following checks to have been completed:
- Enhanced DBS check
- Verbal and written reference checks (one must be your most recent employer)
- Full employment history
- Occupational health assessment
- Right to work checks
