Is home care less expensive than a care home?

The cost of home care can be less than the average cost of nursing home care in many circumstances. At Cherished Home Care, our hourly visiting rates start at just £29 per hour, meaning a few regular visits at times to suit you and your needs can be a cost-effective way to get the support you need to continue living in your own home.

When it comes to live-in care costs compared to residential care, we know there is a lot more to think about than costs alone. The table below compares the care offered by Cherished Home Care and residential care settings.

Home nursing care costs

Home care nursing costs can be higher than standard in-home care costs because nursing care often requires carers to provide additional medical tasks, such as:

  • PEG feeding
  • Stoma care
  • Catheter care
  • Comprehensive medical management
  • Management of progressive conditions like dementia

These additional tasks require carers to have specialist training to ensure they are equipped to provide medical interventions with empathy and dignity to help foster an individual’s independence as much as possible.
